Program Information The George Walker Center Adult Rehabilitation Program provides a 6-month residential treatment program including components of counseling, work therapy, 12-step recovery coursework, as well as classes in chemical dependency, parenting, anger management and addiction studies to men and women who could not otherwise afford rehabilitation services. Since its inception, the Adult Rehabilitation Program (ARP) has consistently provided treatment services to an average of 200 individuals annually and has successfully graduated over 300 individuals so far.
The program provides an excellent learning environment in the field of substance abuse. With 80% of our clientele coming from the court system, alternative custody or child services referring agencies, we are able to provide foundational recovery services based on a 12-step spiritual model, along with work therapy, individualized case plans, counseling, and group therapy. Interns will be involved in every aspect of the program from screening applications, supporting intake, leading groups, developing curriculum, one-on-one counseling, conduct reviews and exit planning.
Our work environment requires candidates to exercise strong ethical boundaries as they relate to safety, fraternization and confidentiality. Adaptability and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as they arise is paramount. The Adult Rehabilitation Program has a very small staff of highly dedicated employees that require a lot of communication in order to meet the needs of the 50+ men and women we serve.
