Student interns will have the opportunity to: -Shadow School Counselor and begin to learn the district wide Social Emotional Learning program. The teaches students strategies on how to handle their feelings in a constructive way and builds social skills. -Have the opportunity to conduct group sessions with students based on their needs while learning effective strategies and curriculum. -Have the opportunity to conduct individual counseling with at risk students while learning effective strategies and curriculum. -Learn how to conduct effective classroom presentations on student's needs such as bullying, test anxiety, or other as needed. -To assist School Counselor in creating fun school activities for important events such as "Red Ribbon Week".
The student intern should like to work with children and families, be an independent worker, be flexible working with various personalities and varied schedule of activities, be open to learning in school environment and be able to handle constructive criticism to better assist students and families.
Requires background check/fingerprinting Bilingual would be helpful but not a priority (Spanish & Punjabi)
