Heritage Oaks Hospital

We are a Behavioral Health Hospital. We provide Inpatient and Outpatient services to all residents of Northern California. We serve patients with Dual Diagnosis, Adolescents, Adults, Senior Adults, Homeless and provide ECT services. We serve a variety of ethnic groups, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. 

Learning Opportunities:
Practice interviewing and/or assessing a variety of demographic and psychiatric conditions; practice with and exposure to the political and economic influences on social work practice in an acute psychiatric hospital; practice with case management, group therapy, psycho-education groups; practice working with muli-disciplinary teams that can include patients, families, other agencies and community resources; practice creating individual treatment plans for short-term stabilization and symptom management; practice with legal and ethical standards in healthcare and in mental health.

The student intern should be a self-starter, able to remain calm in escalated situations that may involve violence, good situational awareness, highly adaptable, inquisitive, independent thinker, open-minded, ability to generalize and internalize experience into practice, entry level insight into personal dynamics, responsive to feedback, works well on a team.

Must meet the same pre-employment criteria as employees in social services (e.g. pre-employment physical, TB screeing, drug testing and Dept of Justice background check - no fingerprinting)
