Program Information Los Molinos has a tradition of excellence, continuous improvement, and high standards. Our schools seek to meet the needs of all students and to prepare them for the challenges of the future. We strive to help students learn, become critical thinkers, and to become responsible members of our democratic society.
Los Molinos Unified School District resides in a rural setting with a high level of poverty. Many of the students families experience a variety of social/emotional issues as a result from drug addiction, homelessness, severe poverty, and depression. Students desiring to learn the model of school social work will be provided with numerous opportunities to refine their skillset and serve a much needed population.
Interns will develop the competencies necessary to work on many levels within a school. Learning opportunities include: social emotional groups, behavioral support for students in and out of the classroom, restorative justice practices, relationships with students, families, school staff, and the community at-large, learn about a school multi-tiered system approach in a school setting and assisting families with accessing community supports.
An ideal intern is one that is self-motivated, compassionate, organized, and a good communicator. LMUSD is highly flexible in meeting the needs of student interns and providing mentoring as it applies to the school social work realm.
