Program Information

This is an unpaid internsip designed for a student working on a BSW or MSW degree. The Eagles' Basic Needs intern will work independently under the direction of the Student Engagement & Outreach Specialist for Adult Education, Mary Wilson, and the WCC Counselor, Tara Williams. The intern will focus on developing holistic, wrap-around services to at-risk students requiring support related to basic needs.

General management and duties of the Eagles' Basic Needs Center:
Know and execute all food handling procedures, take Servsafe online certification, maintain accurate and confidential records, including food inventory, food log sheets, and student/client intake forms, maintain standards of operating procedures as defined by WCC/LCC administration, develop and maintain a database of referral resources for social service agencies within Lake County, facilitate relationships with off-campus agencies and resources to connect students to long-term support, assist with the maintenance of the Basic Needs budget as needed, with the assistance of the Eagles' team plan, develop, and implement a marketing plan detailing the serves and assistance available through the Eagles' Basic Needs Center (to students, faculty and staff), prepare and submit required reports for guests and supplies necessary for operations, assist with data collection and assessment of Basic Needs services, assist in the development and implementation of Basic Needs policies and procedures including, but not limited to, outreach and education, campus wellness initiatives, and social media, identify and assist the team in applying for funding opportunities that address food insecurity, homelessness/displacement, financial literacy, childcare and transportation, and legal services, work collaboratively with Student Ambassadors to assist students who at-risk acquire the resources necessary to make their lives easier and to succeed in college.
