Program Information Student interns will receive training to provide one-on-one assistance with callers/clients. Students will work directly with clients by phone and text to assist in times of need and in times of disaster. Students will provide assessment and build rapport to help clients build resiliency and help connect clients to eligible resources and services. Students will learn about and partner with area agencies that provide social services and safety net programs. Students may help respond to urgent need calls and texts when 211 is activated for disaster response. Students will also attend various collaborative meetings and create relationships with agencies and community resource providers to understand their services.
Students should have the ability to manage their own workload and be self-motivated. They should have the ability to interact with staff to ensure consistency and work with staff from other agencies to build rapport and connections. Students should also be flexible and able to work on different types of projects.
The student intern should be able to adhere to a national set of standards for all 211's. Students should have the ablility to create rapport with clients over the phone, while using critical thinking skills, validating clients while providing non judgmental, non-biased resources and information. Community service with a person first focus. Must be able to multi task, have time and project management skills. Students are encouraged to focus on self-care.
