Program Information

Student interns at Sierra Health & Wellness will have the opportunity to conduct biopsychosocial assessments for mental health evaluations and substance use screening. Students will participate in a multi-disciplinary setting to assist with treatment plans and discharge planning. An intern will also have the opportunity to facilitate group, individual, and family therapy utilizing evidence based practice as well as utilization of de-escalation skills for crisis intervention, develop case management skills, coordination of care, and advocating for client's needs. An intern will understand the holistic approach to wellness including heart, body, emotion, and mind and learn cultural sensitivity by working with clients from diverse backgrounds. 

An intern will need empathy, compassion, flexibility, adapatability to unpredictable settings, willingness to ask questions and ask for help, strong communication skills, strong technological skills, and a passion to help veterans.
