Tri-County Juvenile Rehabilitation Campus

Organization Description

The Yuba County Probation Department's mission is to promote the health and safety of the community through programs of prevention, intervention, treatment and detention services.

Program Information

The Tri-County Juvenile Rehabilitation Campus includes the Tri-County Youth Development Center and the Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center. These detention facilities provide housing, security, programming, therapy, re-entry services and a myriad of other in-person and coordinated care services to youth and families. An on-site treatment team includes an Intervention Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Juvenile Corrections staff, and therapists from Sutter-Yuba Behavioral Health. The Treatment Team provides direct supports to youth and families and creates treatment plans for the youth. The students in the program would work directly with the treatment team, and with the youth, to learn the services available, and learn to provide direct support.

Being empathetic, while also establishing clear boundaries is critical. We are here to help the youth, but also need to provide structured guidance and supports. Active communication with the treatment team is also necessary to ensure all members are working in collaboration for the betterment of the youth, without undermining another member.

Health & Safety

This practicum includes direct contact with youth and families who may be passively or physically aggressive; who may have communicable disease(s); and who are housed in a detention setting.
