Organization Description

At F5 Mendocino we advocate for the healthy birth, growth, and development of all children. This means we must strive to support parents and families to have what they need for optimal development, family strengthening, and resilience.

Program Information

Our agency has a reputation for advocating and promoting trauma and resilience-informed practices along with practical frameworks to reduce child neglect and abuse.  We work closely with our local foster-care, our county family-children services, behavioral health, and social services agencies in creating close-loop referrals and parenting education. Our agency was responsible in leading the efforts to have the evidence-based parenting program know as Triple P implemented through the court system so support parents working towards reunification.  Recently, our agency has expanded services to children and youth who have been identified with a developmental or intellectual disability in providing service navigation and employee community health workers to provide prenatal and perinatal support services. Our agency can offer social work students a variety of social work opportunities across the macro, mezzo, and micro frameworks that provide a holistic person-in-environment foundation.

The student intern should be flexible with changing schedules as community member's needs change. Willingness to ask questions, proceed with curiosity, and respect cultural practices and timelines of partners and populations served.

Health & Safety

Students may have to travel to remote areas of the county.  Steps will be taken to reduce risks and safety training around home visiting will be provided, if needed.
