Legal Services of Northern California
LSNC's Butte Regional Office offers legal education, outreach, and direct client representation on various legal issues. With an anti-poverty mission, it serves vulnerable populations by addressing concerns related to housing, benefits, healthcare, and civil rights. Students working there gain exposure to direct client services, legal system advocacy strategies, and community outreach. They also learn about the regional housing crisis and its effects on clients’ ability to escape poverty, become familiar with public benefits and healthcare systems, and engage in ongoing collaboration with partners to deliver holistic legal services. Practicum students develop skills in client interviewing, community presentation, issue spotting, and trauma-informed techniques to support a diverse client population with various legal needs.
