Nelson Avenue Middle School

During the student’s practicum, they will learn how to provide one-on-one counseling services and facilitate SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) groups. They will also have the opportunity to observe and participate in individual and group counseling sessions, develop and implement age-appropriate SEL activities, collaborate with school staff, and learn how to support students with social-emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.

The student will have the opportunity to build rapport and establish trust with students. They will receive support and guidance from staff members and will be encouraged to ask questions and seek assistance when needed. This supportive environment will allow them to gain confidence, develop professional skills, and effectively respond to students’ needs.
