Organization Description

Through exemplary countywide leadership, facilitation and support, the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools programs and staff will create, sustain and encourage high-quality educational programs for all students. High academic standards, safe and engaging learning environments and the development of community partnerships will help in our mission to prepare students for the future.

Preparing students for the future will be accomplished through:

  • Fiscal and curricular accountability
  • Support to school districts
  • Developing partnerships with stakeholders including parents, students, business community, agencies
Program Information
  • Case Management: Educational (PreK-12), Foster Youth (until age 25), Juvenile Justice Involved (until age 21), Transition Age (up to age 25).
  • Grant Writing
  • Special Education 
  • Tutoring
  • Macro: Legislative visits with students, Youth Ambassador Program, Inter-agency Leadership Team. Case notes, Trauma Informed Practice, Student Engagement and Advocacy, Field trips, conferences, housing resources.We are very collaborative with Child Welfare, Juvenile Probation, and Childrens Behavioral Health among many other community partners so a variety of social work fields. 
  • Behavioral Interventions:Culturally competent case management and academic supports specific to Native American students. 

Also under the Superintendent of Schools Office: Substance use programs (TUPE), McKinney Vento (homeless), Community Schools, Latino Program, Special Education (SELPA), early childhood programs. 

 

 

Health & Safety

Chaotic and unpredictable situations, basic understanding of trauma informed practice (they however would get significant training here), flexible, self driven, willingness to ask questions, team player but can work autonomously.  

Potentially aggressive studeants- we work with probation students and students with complex trauma.
