Violence Prevention Educator At — Youth ALIVE

Students will receive training in youth development principles, trauma-informed care, and community-based violence prevention strategies specific to working with high school students in Oakland. They will be introduced to effective mentorship practices, peer-to-peer education models, and facilitation skills to support group discussions. Additional training will focus on active listening, conflict resolution, and creating safe, inclusive spaces, along with ongoing guidance and support from experienced staff throughout their placement.
Student safety is a top priority. Participants will receive training on site-specific safety protocols, including how to maintain appropriate boundaries, de-escalate conflict, and respond to sensitive or high-risk situations. Activities take place in structured, supervised environments such as schools and community sites, with staff present at all times. Students will not be expected to intervene in unsafe situations, and clear guidelines are provided for reporting concerns or incidents. Ongoing staff support is available to ensure students feel safe, prepared, and supported throughout their experience.
