Program Information

Learning experience varies by site. For our construction sites, you will learn various tasks related to home construction and green building. In our ReStores, you will learn about retail operations. In our Playhouse Workshops, you will learn about woodshop carpentry and tools.

Health & Safety

Some tasks may involve operating power tools or working at heights on scaffolding or ladders. Volunteers will not be asked to do any tasks that make them uncomfortable. Please keep in mind that you will be on your feet for most of the day, in potentially hot, cold, or wet conditions. Please take as many breaks as you need to stay healthy, and avoid over-extending yourself. Even on mild days, the effects of the sun can be very significant, because the construction site affords little shade and many of the surfaces reflect light and heat. Do bring a hat and sunglasses, and bring a refillable water bottle in order to stay hydrated. Do not be shy about taking breaks to sit and rest in the shade. Take good care of yourself, and encourage others on your crew to do the same.
