Reading Partners

Organization Description

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit that mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. We partner with under-resourced schools and engage volunteer reading partners to work one-on-one with students who struggle with reading. Our volunteers provide hour-long tutoring sessions to students— following a structured, evidence-based curriculum developed with an expert team of curriculum advisors.

We have reading centers in the East Bay and San Francisco. For a detailed listing of our school sites, please visit our website for locations and more: https://readingpartners.org/location/sf-bay-area/schools/

Program Information

CSUEB students will be participating at Reading Partners as volunteer tutors, working one-on-one with local elementary school children to improve their literacy skills and foster their love of reading. Reading Partners provides all tutoring materials, lessons, and training! No experience is required.

CSUEB students must complete a two-hour tutor orientation and commit to a consistent schedule with a minimum of one hour per week through the end of the semester.
