Organization Description

This site is only for candidates enrolled in the Teacher Education Program, classes: Fall 580/Spring 581 and Fall 585/Spring 586.

Interns serve as the teacher of record for their students. The Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) mandates that credential programs and school districts provide each intern with 189 hours of mentoring and support per year — 144 hours of general support and an additional 45 hours of English Learner (EL)-specific support. Of this, district-employed supervisors must provide a minimum of 5 hours of support per week.

This support can take many forms, including lesson modeling, observation and coaching, co-planning and feedback on lesson plans, and grade-level meetings. Supervisors may also support interns through email and phone conversations, as well as problem-solving around instruction, classroom management, student access to curriculum, and other student-related issues.
