DYF serves more than 1,500 individuals annually (children and teens with diabetes, siblings, parents and guardians) through our resident camps and recreation programs. Our most well-known program is our Bearskin Meadow Summer Camp. Bearskin Meadow Camp (BMC) is one of the oldest wilderness camps for youth living with diabetes in the country. In addition to BMC, we also offer CDLN, several weekend family education retreats, and exciting adventure programs such as backpacking and whitewater rafting throughout Northern California.

El Camino Futbol Club

El Camino Futbol Club (ECFC) was established in 2017 in Salinas, California. Its formation was led by the inspiration and leadership of the late Richard E. Mussallem II. Richard was very instrumental over the previous years in starting another local competitive youth soccer club in our county. His experience along with the guidance of our Technical Director Sergio Herrera and other consultants, helped pave the way for the start of ECFC.
El Camino Homeless Shelter

El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO) operates a safe and secure overnight 50 bed shelter to meet the immediate needs of families and individuals who have become homeless. With a unique residency program, clients are provided case management services to assist them in securing a job and finding permanent and sustainable housing. While enrolled in the program, clients are taught life skills for employment, budgeting, health care management and social interaction.
A force of 1,500 community volunteers provide ancillary support to run the shelter program and the meal program that serves as many as 80 dinners each night to shelter residents and the homeless population.
ECHO’s mission since 2001 is to empower people in SLO County to make positive change by providing food, shelter, and supportive services.
