Since 1956 Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) has provided quality legal services that empower the poor to identify and defeat the causes and effects of poverty.

Given the huge demand for civil legal services in our community and Legal Services of Northern California's (LSNC) limited resources, we depend on the work of our volunteers to address what would otherwise be a large unmet need. We welcome volunteers with all levels of experience and substantive backgrounds who are willing to put their skills to use serving this critical need. Training and supervision are provided to all volunteers. For attorney volunteers, your work as a LSNC volunteer is covered by our malpractice insurance.

Liberty Ranch High School is located in Sacramento County, just outside the northeast boundary of Galt, California. It serves both a rural and suburban population and was built in response to overcrowding at its sister school, Galt High School, when a building boom began in the 1990’s and the early 2000’s. Liberty Ranch High School opened on August 18th, 2009 with an initial student population of 589 students; 345 9th graders and 244 10th graders. We currently have a student population of nearly 1200.

LiBush International Outreach Non-profit (LION) is an organization whose mission is to eradicate food insecurity and end the cycle of poverty in the Vihiga  district of Kenya and beyond. The rising youth population and elevated competition for limited resources has negatively impacted efforts to improve household food production in the district. Over 50% of families in Vihiga live below the absolute poverty line. Local issues and poor agricultural knowledge have led to low food production. LION in partnership with American research institutes, local high schools, ONDAFA Foundation and LiBush International Connections Inc. hopes to address these issues and improve livelihoods

Since 1996 LifeSTEPS has helped our most vulnerable individuals and families forge better lives. Our Mission is to provide effective educational and supportive services to maximize the strengths of individuals and build resilient communities. We do this by providing comprehensive social and supportive services so low-income families and older adults can maintain stable housing through our case management, education and emergency assistance services. Homeless, veterans and special needs individuals are offered supportive services to secure and maintain housing.

At LifeSTEPS, we are there to catch people before they fall deeper into poverty and avoid homelessness by adhering to the highest standard of service possible. Our vision is that every person touched by LifeSTEPS will be empowered with the skills, resources and support to secure and maintain stable housing and break the cycle of poverty.
