Las Palmas Elementary

Sacramento City Unified School District is one of the oldest K-12 districts in the western United States (established in 1854). SCUSD serves 43,175 students on 75 campuses spanning 76 square miles.

SCUSD is home to a 2013 California Distinguished School (West Campus High School), the only public Waldorf-inspired high school in the nation (George Washington Carver) and the only Hmong language immersion program in the state (Susan B. Anthony Elementary School).

Alumni from SCUSD’s schools include U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, nationally renowned political scholar Dr. Cornel West and author Joan Didion. Recent graduates from SCUSD are currently attending Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Davis and host of other prestigious universities.

Our Board-adopted mission statement promises the community that our students will “graduate as globally competitive life-long learners, prepared to succeed in a career and higher education institution of their choice to secure gainful employment and contribute to society.”

SCUSD’s students reflect the rich diversity that is the hallmark of Sacramento’s central city. Our student population is 37.1 percent Hispanic or Latino; 17.4 percent Asian; 17.7 percent African American; and 18.8 percent white. About 5.3 percent of students are of two or more races or ethnicities.

Residents within SCUSD speak more than 40 languages; 38 percent of students do not speak English at home.

SCUSD employs 4,213 people and operates with a budget of $383 million.

Latino Service Providers

Latino Service Providers (LSP) works with community partners to engage, collaborate, and exchange valuable information; to increase awareness of available resources, access to programs and services; to influence public policy, delivery of services, enhance inter-agency communication; and to promote professional development within the Latinx community.

Latino Service Providers was founded in 1989, in response to helping the Latinx community in Sonoma County obtain knowledge and access to resources to enrich lives and help improve our communities. Our nonprofit organization currently comprises over 1,400 members from a broad spectrum of the community, including a diverse group of individuals, community-based organizations and local businesses. We come together to educate and network in support of the Latinx community, to improve access to healthcare, mental health services, education, legal support and other social services available in our area.

It is an integral part of the Sacramento cultural community and it is open to the general public. The Lavender Library serves patrons in the greater Sacramento Valley and Northern California. It is a 501 (c)(3) Independent California nonprofit public-benefit corporation. It is a designated United Way recipient agency.

Legal Services of Northern California

Since 1956 Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) has provided quality legal services that empower the poor to identify and defeat the causes and effects of poverty.

Given the huge demand for civil legal services in our community and Legal Services of Northern California's (LSNC) limited resources, we depend on the work of our volunteers to address what would otherwise be a large unmet need. We welcome volunteers with all levels of experience and substantive backgrounds who are willing to put their skills to use serving this critical need. Training and supervision are provided to all volunteers. For attorney volunteers, your work as a LSNC volunteer is covered by our malpractice insurance.

LiBush International Connection Inc.

Over 50% of families in Vihiga live below the absolute poverty line. Local issues and poor agricultural knowledge have led to low food production.
