We are so excited that you are taking a service learning course! Every student taking a service learning course must be placed with a community partner (service learning site) to complete their service learning hours.
You might be completing service learning because it is a requirement of the course, optional for the course, or it is for extra credit. The expected service learning hours to be completed by the students is determined by the course instructor. Some instructors have existing partnerships with a community partner for you to complete service learning hours. Others ask students to find their own placements to complete their service learning hours. For any questions, please contact the service learning office at servicelearning@csusm.edu.

CSUSM Resilient Entrepreneur Program (REP)
The Innovation Hub at CSUSM 288 Campus Way, San Marcos, 92096
The Innovation Hub was founded in March 2020 by President Ellen Neufeldt, less than one year into her tenure as president. President Neufeldt’s commitment to encouraging social mobility and innovation was the catalyst for the Innovation Hub. As the nexus for innovation in the community, the Innovation Hub serves the Innovation Ecosystem at CSUSM, a diversely intuitive group of programs that further the missions of the university and community to solve complex social problems alongside faculty and industry leaders. The Innovation Hub, in addition to being a nexus for social innovation and the innovation ecosystem, provides a wide array of opportunities for the community. Students can participate in workshops, attend guest speaker series' and participate in research to solve real-world problems. The Innovation Hub is also equipped with professional prototyping equipment, such as numerous 3D printing devices.

The mission of faculty and the staff of the School of Nursing is to prepare students for a career in professional nursing that focuses on assisting patients/clients to achieve health or health-related goals and to transition from a disease oriented to a health oriented system of healthcare. Faculty assist students who acquire general knowledge from sciences and arts and specific knowledge and skills from nursing practice and theories to assume nursing leadership roles. These professional nursing roles are practiced as a provider of care, designer/manager/coordinator of care, member of the profession, teacher and advocate. Faculty articulate a philosophy of nursing in which nurses provide healthcare for culturally and ethnically diverse individuals, groups, families and communities.
