The College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences (CHABSS) offers an exciting variety of degrees and programs that make up the core of a liberal arts education at CSUSM. Students in CHABSS courses master skills and technologies essential for professional success in a 21st century interdependent global society.

The Committee for International Research (CIR) began as the International Research Faculty Working Group. We are CSUSM faculty who conduct research and creative activities outside of the United States. We aim to:

EM&US is part of CSUSM's Facilities Development and Management department. Our goal is to create the most comfortable, reliable and efficient environment for students, staff and faculty while maintaining required safety protocols. We manage energy efficiency measures that help us achieve those goals while saving tax dollars. Our department is responsible for carrying out some of the CSU system’s loftiest initiatives including a net zero energy, reducing green house gas emissions, and reducing water consumption.

Event and Conference Services is comprised of a highly responsive, customer service oriented team of professionals providing the campus and outside clientele/ partners an array of services to make your program a success.

• Meeting, event, and conference spaces including auditoriums, classrooms for breakout sessions, and dining services.
• Unique entertaining opportunities indoor and outdoors.
• Athletic facilities for Summer camps or team-building exercises.

Our ability to maximize the use of state-of-the-art facilities and creatively bring a vision to life for groups from 10 to 1,000+ allows the client to enjoy their event from start to finish!

The CHABSS Global Commitment Committee educates and engages the college, campus, and the broader community in a discussion about global issues, trends, and events​. We seek to provide students with opportunities to enhance their global competency, helping they engage more broadly in the world around them and develop skills to enhance their career opportunities.

The tagline for CSUSM Housing is "Live, Learn, Thrive," and we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive living and learning experience for a diverse population of students. This past year, that has meant providing a safe environment that mitigates risk of COVID-19 exposure.

The Latinx Center serves as a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally empowering space for all  students. We strive to educate the campus about: Latinx issues, multi-dimensional identities, and ethnic diversity represented within the community (i.e. Central & South America, Caribbean to Mexico). We focus on Latinx student validation and engagement by providing culturally enriching and transformational programs as well as services that foster and promote holistic student success.
