Organization Description

The LearningQuest --Stanislaus Literacy Center, a non-profit corporation in partnership with the community. LearningQuest Provides free education for adults in the areas of literacy, high school equivalency education and English. Parents learning English are also taught the importance of being their child’s first and best teacher. 

Program Information

Teaching Intern

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Working with students in need of additional assistance in reading, writing or math at least twice a week for an hour or two.
  • Skills and Specifications:
    • Must have strong reading, writing and math skills.
  • Education and Qualifications:
    • A high school diploma and at least one year of college level coursework applicable to teaching.
  • Reporting Relationship of Placement:
    • This person will report to our project manager for volunteers in person at least once a week.
  • Training/Orientation:
    • For Literacy tutoring there is a 6-hour in person training or a 9-hour online training. In person training is only offered 3 times a year.
    • For High School Equivalency (HSE) tutoring, there is a 1-2 hour orientation.

Marketing Intern

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Working with our fundraising department to produce the needed marketing materials for fundraising such as flyers, brochures, newsletters and post cards. Also, enhancing our social media presence with regular posting.
  • Skills and Specifications:
    • Must have strong rcommunication and graphic design skills, as well as, good English grammer..
  • Education and Qualifications:
    • A high school diploma and at least one year of college level coursework applicable to marketing.
  • Reporting Relationship of Placement:
    • This person will report to our project manager for fundraising in person at least once a week. All other reporting can be done remotely.
