(CAB) is celebrating over 50 years of Community Action! CAB operates 6 programs assisting over 8,000 low-income people with emergency, sustaining/self-sufficiency services and serves an additional 7,000+ with requests for information and referrals. Over three quarters of CAB’s clients have family incomes of less than 100% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and at least a quarter of clients have less than 150% of the Guidelines.

Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc. (CAB) is looking for motivated and talented interns to support our poverty-fighting services! We have multiple opportunities to make a difference and learn new skills across our four agency divisions: Community Building, Youth and Adult Employment Services, Homelessness Prevention and Intervention Services and Immigration Legal Services, as well as CAB’s Administration Department.

Seeking 2 interns in CAB’s Administration Department:
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide high-level, confidential, efficient, and comprehensive administrative support to the Administrative Coordinator and the entire Executive team for administrative processes with a focus on daily operations & advancement. Support, create and maintain strong organizational systems, forms and processes for the Administrative Coordinator and the agency as a whole, including organized document filing and paperless systems.
• Understand and support the agency mission with a strong understanding of confidentiality and cultural competency, and with a commitment to the goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Support and assist with special projects, events and agency efforts including:
Promotional materials: newsletters, brochures, correspondence (both electronic and “hard copy”), website and social media management.
• Knowledge of: proper office methods, techniques, and practices including filing systems, customer service and business correspondence. Strong organizational, analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Supporting special projects including our Community Action Plan process (community and non-profit partner engagement), Strategic Plan implementation and Advocacy efforts.
• Supporting our Agency Advancement (which include fund development, marketing/agency branding, events) efforts.
• Administrative and clerical tasks including data entry and filling.
• Event planning or event coordination-single day or one-time support for a specific event. Use different communication methods which include email, web, social media and working on marketing and graphic design efforts as well.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bilingual/Bi-literate strongly preferred; excellent English & Spanish written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in stressful situations with a diverse population.
• Ability to work in a collaborative partnership environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A clear understanding of, and the ability to demonstrate, professional ethics, boundaries, and judgment.
• Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, and reliability are imperative.

• Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities.

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Zoom/Teams virtual platforms, social media.
• Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
• Able to create a culture of trust and belonging within the organization.
