Organization Description

The Alameda County Workforce Development Board (ACWDB) is a 27-member employer-led oversight body of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title I programs in Alameda County (outside the city of Oakland). ACWDB sets local program policies in alignment with the WIOA and ensures that there are comprehensive WIOA services for job seekers and youth. There are also provisions in WIOA to serve employers. ACWDB also develops strategic partnerships to address workforce issues. ACWDB members represent the business community, higher education, economic development, labor, government, and community-based organizations. The staff of the ACWDB are employees of and represent the ACWDB as an administrative department within the Alameda Social Services Agency. ACWDB staff members are WIOA subject matter experts and report regularly to ACWDB members regarding key decisions and program policies related to the WIOA Title 1 programs. Mission To provide employers and job seekers with universal access to tools, resources, and services that assists them with obtaining employment and business goals.

Program Information

The primary focus of the student's learning experience will be associated with exploratory research projects. Student will conduct research in partnership with the department's Management Analyst and other department staff as needed and assist in written/verbal report of findings. The student may participate in the formation and development of WIOA Title 1 program policies. The student may also support some Media Team projects, such as developing content for the department's media outlets. Potential Research projects: *Alameda County Cost of Living Research and Reporting *Skill Gaps and In-demand Skills Research and Reporting *Discouraged Worker Research and Reporting Program Policy Development: *Student may assist and participate in developing WIOA Title 1 program policies Communications: *Student may assist with the department's Media Team

Health & Safety

The student will have to generally participate in some of the onboarding processes required by the Alameda County Social Services Agency and sign a Consent and Release form for media or photos that may be taken of the student. Students may also decline requests to be photographed or featured in other media outlets or publications.

  • Must be 18 or older
  • TB Test
  • SITE REQUIREMENT: Students will be asked to sign a confidentiality waiver.
