Recreation Therapy InternshipAt — Jewish Home and Rehab Center Acute Geriatric Psychiatry Hospital
The Jewish Home and Rehab Centers' Acute Geriatric Psychiatry Hospital offers students receiving their degree in Recreation Therapy the opportunity to learn in fast paced, fun and engaging clinical environment. The student will have the opportunity to practice and hone skills in the RT APIE(D) process by providing hands on active treatment with seniors that are having an acute mental health crisis.
By the end of the internship process students will have transferred their academic knowledge into practice. They will feel more confident in their skills in the APIE(D) process. They will feel ready to continue on their path to a certified practioner in the field of Recreation Therapy.
The student will be working side by side with the CTRS through all aspects of APIE(D) process. As intern builds skill set and confidence they will begin to be more independent, but still under the direct supervision of the CTRS.
This is a psychiatric hospital setting and so there is risk of exporsure and infection, as well as, potential for aggressive patience, which is mitigated by training and education that the student will have prior to starting the intership and under the guidance of the CTRS.
