Organization Description

LFCD was formed as a non-profit 501(c)(3) in 1980. Today the organization serves individuals from 40 nationalities, delivers service in 35 languages and impacts the lives of nearly 31,000 a year in three northern California counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, and Sacramento). LFCD’s HQ is located in Oakland. LFCD has four-decades of history and a track record of delivering strong program outcomes, effective operations, and responsible and sound fiscal management. LFCD’s mission is to advance the wellbeing of diverse communities through culturally informed employment, housing, and education services. LFCD’s Operational Strategic Plan 2019 – 2023 addresses these Strategic Priority Areas: 1) Organizational Development, 2) Financial Sustainability, and 3) Marketing and Branding. Our programs focus on serving hard to reach, count, engage and serve diverse low-income populations. We deliver efficient and effective core programs funded by 57 contracts. LFCD’s annual operating budget in 2021 is $23.7 million. LFCD has been regarded as a trusted partner since its founding in 1980 where local residents, businesses, and public agencies can come to get reliable assistance that improves the quality of life for the community.
