Channel Islands Restoration
CIR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that works to restore habitat on the Channel Islands and adjacent mainland through invasive plant management, native plant propagation and native plant installation. We promote environmental education through lectures, habitat restoration volunteer opportunities including island and mainland service trips and activities for K-12 and adults. We also contract for habitat restoration services and conduct research and monitoring of flora and fauna to determine the effectiveness of restoration techniques and assess the status of native and invasive plants.
Depending on the assignments chosen, work may occur in remote or wilderness areas where medical assistance is not immediately available. Volunteer work with CIR requires a signed liability waiver, where some medical history information is required for emergency purposes. CIR has a COVID-19 vaccination mandate for its employees and board members, and we request proof of vaccination be provided to our Safety Officer before in person staff/volunteer interactions.
