Oakland’s Emerald New Deal seeks to use Cannabis Tax to aid the homeless by creating housing for people impacted by the War on Drugs.

Oasis Legal Services is an immigration legal services nonprofit serving under-represented low-income LGBTQ+ asylum seekers. We serve over 700 LGBTQ+ asylum seekers every year, many of whom live and work in San Francisco. Oasis specializes in trauma-informed, holistic representation in affirmative asylum cases as well as lawful permanent residency, citizenship, and family petition applications. In addition to legal services, Oasis provides individualized case management for at risk clients. We train organizations and advocates around the Bay Area on how to represent LGBTQ+ immigrants and support litigation efforts advocating for the rights of, and expanding public awareness about, LGBTQ+ asylum seekers.

The OK (Our Kids) Program is a mentoring and leadership development model that focuses on African-American males 12 to 18 years old. The goals of the OK Program are to develop leadership and critical thinking skills, promote academic excellence, and reduce the high rates of incarceration and homicide amongst young Black males. Additionally, we improve relationships between law-enforcement and Black communities. Our collaborative team membership model brings together local police officers, school districts, and the faith community to improve lives while empowering Black men and boys to transform their communities.
