Jefferson Elementary (Jefferson School District)
7500 West Linne Road, Tracy, 95304
The Jefferson Elementary School District serves Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students from four contiguous areas in San Mateo County - the city of Daly City, the Town of Colma, unincorporated Broadmoor Village, and a small section of the city of Pacifica. Daly City, with an estimated population of approximately 100,000 is the largest political unit, not only in the four areas, but also in the entire San Mateo County. The population of the four communities has a wide socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural diversity. The community is situated close to the City of San Francisco, the Bay, the Pacific Ocean, and San Bruno Mountain.
Jefferson Elementary School District was established in 1866. As the population grew and shifted from the original Daly City-Colma concentration, new sites were acquired and schools were built in other parts of the District. At present, the District includes a state preschool, eleven elementary schools, three intermediate schools, a maintenance/warehouse unit and a District Office. These units are scattered throughout Daly City, Colma and Broadmoor, making it the largest complex in the community. The District serves approximately 5,000 students. More than 20 languages are represented, making the District truly international.
The District presently employs 30 certificated office and site administrators, 300 teachers and pupil services staff, and approximately 300 classified employees. The Administration is comprised of experienced and professional people, and the Governing Board is supportive of the educational process.
The instructional program of the District requires high expectations of the students. The District maintains current materials and assesses student progress through multiple measures on an annual basis.
The District believes in family involvement. Every school maintains an active PTA and a School Site Council. The District also supports several district level parent groups, including a Parent Involvement Advisory Committee.
Those interested in learning more about the Jefferson Elementary School District are encouraged to call their local school or the Superintendent of Schools at (650) 991-1000.
