Organization Description

Our mission at United Way Monterey County is to engage the community and focus resources to improve lives in Monterey County. We hope to build a healthy, secure community by engaging concerned and caring people. Our core values are leadership, integrity, responsiveness, inclusiveness, and excellence. Our overall goal is to advance the common good through our commitment to four priority areas: meeting basic needs, increasing self sufficiency, developing successful kids and families, and moving people from crisis to stability.

UWMC's business model capitalizes on our proven ability to bring together diverse segments of the community - business, government, nonprofits, and faith based groups- to focus on specific issues. Together, we'll tackle issues with a sustained, multi-faceted approach that has proven successful across the country. We all have a stake and a part to play. The results will be visible change and long-term impact.
