Requirements to volunteer at our Boys & Girls Club of the South Bay locations:
1. Must be at least 16 years of age or older to volunteer.
*** Exceptions: Under the age of 16 can volunteer only if it’s for school, church, or organization based project hours.
Must bring documentation proof.
2. Volunteer time available during school year is from 2:30p.m-6:00p.m (Monday-Friday)
**** Volunteer time during summer time is from 7:00a.m-6:00p.m (Monday-Friday)
3. Background Check is required. (Only applicable for 18 years old and over)
4. Copy of TB Skin Test results (PPD) no more than 4 years old.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach, comprised of 14 distinct facilities across the city, has been helping underprivileged youth reach their full personal and academic potential since 1939. Community activists Maurice Bugbee and Carlton Wallace, launched the club – originally founded as the Boys Club of Long Beach – in an effort to keep young boys out of trouble and off the streets by giving them access to activities and programs that assisted them in becoming responsible, contributing members of the community. In 1991, the Boys Club of Long Beach expanded its reach to include underserved girls in addition to boys. One of the oldest, most successful youth organizations in the area, the BGCLB has served more than 220,000 youth, ages 6-18 in its 76-year history.

Focuses on the skills needed to have a healthy life while learning financial literacy, substance abuse prevention techniques. Includes gender specific programs that ease the transition from childhood to adolescence and help young people make good decisions for themselves.
The Arts
Explorations and classes in visual and performing arts including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, mixed media, video, dance and music.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation
Instruction and participation in a variety of physical activities and team sports to keep our youth physically active and healthy.

Volunteer Opportunities:
We have several opportunities for volunteers at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fullerton! Here are the requirements to get involved:
- Hourly Commitment: we require a minimum of 20 volunteer hours
- Background check: all adult volunteers must pass strict national research standards
- Orientation: all interested volunteers must attend an information session
- Complete an application: sit with Ms. Evelyn to match your skills to the project need
- Get on the Volunteer weekly schedule: GET STARTED, BE GREAT!
Types of Volunteers needed:
- Special Events: we host events that require volunteer power to be a success
- Internship Based: complete minimum required hours for a class, work, certificate or promotion
- Community Service Hours: minimum of 20 hours and are evaluated on a case by case basis
We need volunteers most during the weekdays from 2:30-6pm. Kids need help with homework, staff can use your assistance in monitoring kids, events and program areas. NOTE: Must be high school age to volunteer (or see Ms. Evelyn). Short term projects and events should be scheduled well in advance. Annual events for volunteers: Youth of the Year, Spring Break and Summer Break.
