Community-based, non-profit, outpatient mental health clinic serving primarily monolingual Spanish-speaking clients of Alameda County. Our services are wrap-around, client focused, strength based, family oriented.

La Familia Counseling Service is a community-based, multi-cultural organization committed to strengthening the emotional wellness of individuals and the preservation of families. Our vision is a vibrant, multi-cultural community where families learn collectively and individuals reach their fullest potential. We pride ourselves in providing services throughout Alameda County for children, youth, and their families. La Familia Counseling Service provides outpatient mental health services, community services, family preservation services, developmental services, youth services, as well as services for recovery and wellness.

The LMUMC Food Programs, in partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank and several other community groups, has been serving the Oakland community for over 35 years by providing free food to individuals and families in need in our immediate Lake Merritt community and the Alameda County. The food programs provide nutritious shelf stable foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and meals on a regular basis to senior citizens, college students, the unsheltered, and families with children. Our programs have worked towards alleviating food insecurity as illustrated by ACCFB’s 2014 report “Hunger: Alameda County Uncovered” where One in ten Bay Area residents struggles to get enough food and Oakland’s homeless rate has risen 40%. This past year has certainly amplified the need for programs like ours to bring resources and support to our community. Current programs include a monthly food pantry distribution serving 300-400 households monthly and lunch distribution three times a week to nearly 100 individuals each day. Our programs also serve as an access point for community volunteers to learn about the community needs and offer their support. Through the ongoing relationships of volunteers and our guests/neighbors, we also help connect resources when individuals share their needs at point of service.

LARPD provides parks and recreation to a population of approximately 83,000 residents. Offering 42 neighborhood parks, 12 sports field facilities, an indoor gymnasium, two aquatics centers there is a myriad of recreational activities for the community to engage in. The recreation department specifically offers a variety of sports and fitness classes/camps/leagues for ages 3-80+. We host special events for the youth such as Boo Bash, Donuts with Santa, Pee Wee Track Meet, Daddy/Daughter Dance, etc. The gymnasium is host to multiple LARPD programs as well as a rentable facility for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, birthday parties, etc.

Our purpose is to give back in quality of life, to give care towards the end of life.

We also support educational outreach efforts from Berkeley Lab’s divisions by providing program development assistance, materials, funding, volunteers, project management, marketing, and administrative support. Our mission is to inspire and prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, technologists, and STEM professionals. We offer a range of programs for undergraduate, postbaccalaureate, graduate students, and faculty. Through these programs, people come to the Lab to participate in research internships, they collaborate and network with Lab STEM professionals, and share their skills and passion for science in the STEM community.

Learning Services is a post acute neurobehavioral program committing to serving brain injury survivors. Our mission includes assisting individuals to reach the highest level of independence possible and reintegrate back into the community. We offer services that include short term intensive rehabilitation, outpatient and home and community and long term supported living.
