The American Gold Star Manor is an affordable senior retirement community in Long Beach, California. It provides independent living for Gold Star Mothers, fathers, veterans, and other eligible seniors. Residents live in a gated, 25 acre, park-like setting with features like a community recreation hall, social programs, life enrichment programs, recreation facilities, pool and spa, picnic areas, game room, computer room, meditation chapel, and community gardens.

We provide Occupational therapy, Speech Therapy for all children, and Infant Development Services for 0-3. We work in homes, in schools, in clininc and in our center based community programs. We are dedicated to enrich the lives of the children we serve.

At AHS, our mission is to serve and advocate for the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community by ensuring access to health care services regardless of income, insurance status, immigration status, language, or culture. As an important part of this mission, we provide services in English and eleven Asian languages: Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, Lao, Mien, Khmer, Karen, Mongolian and Burmese.

Summer Youth Programs Internship

Description : Asian Health Services Youth Program will run various summer programs for Oakland and East Bay Youth. One will focus on connecting youth to the elder generation called Bridging Generations. Another will focus on young men. Depending on capacity, we may run our summer leadership program as well as an outdoors focused program. Programs will run 2-3 times per week. We prefer a minimum of 20 hours per week during the summer. We are flexible with start and end dates.

Website Renovation Intern

Description: Asian Health Services Youth Program has two websites that are in need of renovation. Priorities are listed in order. One site needs to be moved to a more modern CMS like Wordpress. The other has modern structure but needs new content and a review of user experience. Both sites need some design and branding work. Estimated hours: Website A Migration: 20 hours Website B Content Update: 20 hours Logo and Branding: 10 hours

Youth Center and Teen Clinic Internship

Description: Located in Oakland's Chinatown, The Spot Youth Center and the Asian Health Services Teen Clinic are key locations where Oakland youth will go for support and services. Our internships focus on supporting staff with youth development and leadership groups, in-class and in-community health education, and comprehensive and confidential reproductive health services. Health Outreach and Education

Description: Asian Health Services is proud of our dual mission to provide and advocate for quality health care access. Through our Patient Leadership Councils, community events, and contact through our clinics, our Community Liaison Unit provides outreach, education, and enrollment opportunities. If you are interested in outreach and educating AAPI communities and patients, please contact us. We prefer a longer term volunteer or internship at a minimum of 3 months, 12-16 hours per week.
