Program Sites

Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people experiencing food insecurity, and inspiring others to do the same. Through our two community based programs, our Backyard Harvest and Farmers Market Recovery programs, volunteers recover surplus produce from fruit trees and farmers markets across Los Angeles and Ventura counties. We also have a third staff-run program to recover produce in bulk from the LA Wholesale Produce Market.

We are seeking volunteers to harvest fruit and/or collect surplus produce at farmers markets across Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Students may sign up for events that work for their schedules via our volunteer calendar: foodforward.org/volunteer-calendar

The mission of the Foster Children's Resource Center is to provide new clothing, school uniforms and supplies, hygiene products, books and toys, free of charge, to local children in the foster care system.

Program activities include:

Assisting clients (children in the local foster care system from ages newborn-21) as they select new clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, books and toys during their scheduled appointments at the Center. In addition, volunteers help with phone calls, scheduling appointments, organizing paperwork, and sorting and organizing merchandise.

Bringing the joy of dance to people of all abilities. Because we believe dance is for EVERYBODY!
People with disabilities don’t always have the same opportunities in sports and in the arts. That's why Free 2 Be Me Dance was created. We offer dance classes designed specifically for people with disabilities in mind so that they have the same opportunities as their peers to reach their goals. Through technical training and performance opportunities, our dancers get the depth and breadth of a standard dance education tailored just for them.

McGroarty Arts Center’s mission is to provide access to the arts, community and history by offering affordable or free* in-depth arts instruction, and a wide range of creative experiences and events, to people of all ages, for many years to come. The Center provides a historic and cultural venue for artists to present their work in all forms, while preserving the legacy of John Steven McGroarty and his truly historic home. A home that is dearly treasured by so many members of our wonderful and supportive community.

The mission of Friends of the Family is to foster strong, self-sufficient families, joyful and resilient children, and vibrant communities by providing respectful, responsive family support programs in the greater Los Angeles area. The organization seeks to provide services and activities designed to build strong families, improve productive outcomes for children, help teens become self-sufficient adults, promote self-sustaining employment, curb violence, and promote community involvement.

We are a 501c3, designed to assist student athletes and college graduates in mental health, wellness and career path through high end athletic competition. Our annual college softball summer league is brought to you by our community partners, with a focus on building leadership qualities and excellence to last a lifetime.

Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, a non-profit organization located In Echo Park, has been serving the Greater Los Angeles area since 1953. Gateways offers an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness. We pride ourselves on offering the same quality standards in mental health treatment available to individuals, whether funded or non-funded.
